If not...

Short reason why Verizon people are stupid. They didn't get the fact that Wales/England are the United Kingdom. In short they activated the wrong country code on my SIM card to get global access. Long version coming up throughout the report.

So I was supposed to be able to do *228 from my phone and update it to work in the UK. We are walking to the Bay and it's still NOT working after being in the UK a few hours now.

On our way to the bay I see a pay phone, we stop, I try to make a credit card call and get a hold of my parents to get my a service number for verizon. That operator would not accept my credit card, and then wouldn't put me through to the service line of my credit card to see what was up. I was pissed, I hung up on him. He deserved it. You don't not give explanations to a hungry, irritated, and extremely jet-lagged person. Just doesn't end well for the person on the other line.

We get to the bay and we see the water tower. Just as gorgeous as I remembered it from two years ago.

Look at me, I'm at the Bay!

Sort of near the Invisible Lift. Last time I was there, there was some construction, so they had some cones around the area, so I just assumed where I was standing was the right spot. Apparently it's not. Oh well.

The Plass

Church used in To The Last Man:

-Tommy and Tosh are there standing and talking.

The tourist entrance:

What's this, a fake newspaper, with a fake mayor who turned out to be a Slitheen in S1, Ep. 11 Boomtown.

I'm outside the tourist entrance, I really am.

Bosphorus, that's where Mickey, Nine, Rose, and Jack ate, during Boomtown.

After that we saw Eddie's American Diner was open, so we decided to eat there. I also wanted to make sure my credit card was working. It was, stupid phone operators. We each had a really good burger there.

What? It said Glee on it. Come on, I know you giggled just a bit.

Then I spent some time on the pay phone to my mom saying we're in the bay, we're going to the Doctor Who exhibit, get something figured out with my phone.

I think this is my second favorite pic of the Wales Millennium Centre. You'll see my favorite later on.

Inside the Red Dragon Centre

The Doctor Who Exhibition is absolutely freaking, amazing. The costumes, the aliens, the detail used in them, beautiful, gorgeous, and holy crap the actors/actresses are a hell of a lot skinnier than they appear to be on TV. Yes, I know that a TV camera "adds 10 pounds" but still.

Sadly, we didn't get to see if it was bigger on the inside.

And also no, we didn't get pictures of ourselves standing at the TARDIS either. I blame jet-lag for that one *nods*.

A picture of a picture of David Tennant being all sexy like.

We had a choice to make...

We were brave and visited the Dalek Zone. Thankfully, we weren't Exterminated in the process.

Tullulah and Laszlo:

It's Captain Jack!!!

I pushed a button and made the Daleks do stuff. It was really cool.

Lookie, I'm standing with Captain Jack's Jacket:

I thought the Car Park was cool:

After the exhibition we went back down to the Bay and played a bit with the water tower. It was kind of really cold. Not the smartest thing we did, but hey it was totally worth it.

Me pulling my hand away before Laurie could take the picture:

Ah, That's better:

St. Davids Hotel:

So after we took some more pictures of the bay again, I went over to the Pay phone that was near the Glee club sign, and I proceeded to spend the next 45 minutes to an hour on the phone fighting with international operators and verizon customer service. At this point it started to rain, and get windy. I sent Laurie to stand in the Tesco's so she wouldn't get that wet. After all the phone calls, and cries of frustration, my cell phone is in business in the UK. Made a quick call from the phone to my mom to prove it was working, and then I shut it off as all that crap with Verizon nearly drained the battery.

I joined Laurie in Tescos Express and we decided since we had the diner food not too long ago, we weren't that hungry for a meal for dinner. We bought lots of junk food and decided to get ourselves back to the B&B.

Getting back to the B&B consisted of taking a bus back to City Centre, and then getting on the 9a again, and having no clue where to get off and see where we were at since it was dark and pouring down rain. It took the 9a forever to get to it's spot, but as we were driving around I cought a quick glimpse of the New Theatre, squeed a bit. Asked a kid on the bus how the heck do we know where to get off. Told us to follow him off the bus, and that he goes left, we go right and we'll be near the B&B. He sees me Doctor Who Exhibition bag and jokingly mentions, "oh you're one of those dorks." I said yep, and then he told us the stop we were getting off at on Paget Street was used in Doctor Who. We could kind of see the church, and realized it was from Fathers Day. (Pictures of it in a later entry).

We got back to the room and took some random pictures.

-It says Condoms and Lube in Welsh, how is that not humorous? And on that note, [ profile] blackbird_song on Saturday morning, you know how you asked us if you were too loud with talking, and Laurie and I said no it was something else? The other people who were sitting there at breakfast, probably made good use out of that lube and condom since we heard them getting it on.

My day 1 purchases:

The utterly adorable, tiny little soda cans we got on the airplane to London:

Lastly we finished up the night by barely staying awake to watch GDL in The Bill. Rubbish show, but GDL needs to be psycho characters more often. I do not want to see him as a nice little teaboy. I want evil, murderous, psychopath, Gareth. Honestly, if it was someone else doing that role, it would have been oh, we figured it out, but the way Gareth played all those little ticks, and mental games, it had you guessing. Other than that, the show did not impress me at all.

Then we fell sound asleep.

In the next installment, our Friday adventures.

Poor K9 :( He looks so damaged! I love the colourful bathrobe and all your purchases! Very cool! Oh and tiny cans are just adorable aren't they? Oh and I haven't seen the new ep of The Bill with Gareth yet, thanks for reminding me that I need to catch up on that! For now I need to go to uni so I shall check out the rest of your journey and the picture links later. Thanks for sharing it! And I wish you better luck with the phone opperators next time you travel overseas!

Next time, my phone better freaking work on the first try when I go to update it.

Then I won't have to want to commit murder through phone lines, I'm telling you if looks could have killed they would have been dead, lol.

I know poor K-9.

Where was that Margaret-the-Slitheen fake mayor poster?! And how the heck did I miss it during BOTH of my trips to Cardiff?!? Is it somewhere near the shrine to Ianto?

I was so busy photographing the Shrine I didn't even notice those. Obviously I need to go back to Cardiff! :-)

hehe, I wouldn't have noticed them either, but I remembered them being there from when I visited it in 2008. I thought it was funny back then, because of course I hadn't seen that episode of DW yet.
